Coming This Weekend!!!

Ah, Halloween in New Orleans! If you’ve never experienced it, let me assure you—you’re missing out on a month-long spectacle of spooky, sultry, and outrageously over-the-top festivities. And if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or simply love a good time for a great cause, then Halloween New Orleans (HNO) is the weekend you’ll want to mark on your calendar, October 18-20, 2024.

Now, let me tell you, HNO is more than just a party (though, don’t get me wrong, the parties are next-level). It’s a celebration with a purpose, raising funds for The Lazarus Project, a home for men and women living with AIDS. So far, HNO has raised over $4.6 million for this important cause. That’s right—your wild night of dancing and revelry will leave you feeling good for more reasons than just the open bar.

And speaking of open bars (yes, plural), let’s take a stroll through the spine-tingling itinerary for HNO 2024. Get your freakiest costumes, your best black tie, and prepare to dance until you drop (but in style).

Friday Night – The Lazarus Ball (7:00 PM – 10:00 PM) The weekend kicks off with The Lazarus Ball at the iconic Gallier Hall. We’re talking fancy, darling—black tie optional, but why not pull out all the stops? I mean, this is New Orleans, after all. The ball features exquisite cuisine, an open bar (yes, a theme for the weekend), live band entertainment, and a silent auction. It’s a great way to mingle with the finest New Orleanians and kick off your HNO weekend in style while helping support The Lazarus Project. Plus, you get to feel all classy and charitable—win-win!

Saturday Night – Camp HNO (10:00 PM – 3:00 AM) This is where things get a little wild, y’all. If you thought New Orleans’ costumes were outrageous during Mardi Gras, just wait until Halloween. Saturday night is all about creativity, glam, and going bigger than big. Head over to The Fillmore for Camp HNO, an all-night dance party where DJs Ty Sutherland and Paul Lakeway will keep the beats pumping and your feet moving. Did I mention the open bar? (Of course there’s one!) And the real showstopper? The midnight show and a costume contest that will have you in awe of what people can pull off with some sequins, feathers, and just the right amount of scandalous creativity. Trust me, you’re going to want to go all out for this one.

Sunday Afternoon – The Riverboat Tea Dance (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM) What better way to wrap up the weekend than with a leisurely float down the mighty Mississippi? Step aboard the Natchez Riverboat for the ultimate Riverboat Tea Dance. There’s something magical about the mix of a live DJ, an open bar (shocking, I know), and an afternoon tea dance on a classic New Orleans riverboat. The views are spectacular, the crowd will be fabulous, and you’ll get to end your HNO weekend on a high note as you dance the afternoon away—river breezes included.

Now, let’s talk logistics for a second. Where are you staying for all these fabulous events, you ask? Look no further than New Orleans Guest House—literally, we’re just around the corner from Louis Armstrong Park, a hop, skip, and a fabulous twirl away from the French Quarter, and only a two-minute walk from the streetcar stop. That means whether you’re headed to the Gallier Hall for The Lazarus Ball, strutting your stuff at Camp HNO, or swaying to the beat at the Riverboat Tea Dance, you’ll never be far from your home base. We’ve got clean, affordable accommodations and a warm, welcoming staff that can’t wait to host you for a Halloween you’ll never forget (trust me, this town does spooky like no other).

Speaking of spooky, did I mention that Halloween in New Orleans is not just a night or a weekend thing? Oh no, honey, we do Halloween for the whole month. Haunted tours through the French Quarter are on the daily (and twice as spooky this time of year), the ghost stories get wilder, the costumes get freakier, and let’s not even talk about the cocktails—they’re as strong as they are spine-chilling. If you’re a Halloween lover (which, duh, you obviously are), you haven’t lived until you’ve experienced October in the City of the Dead.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets for HNO, start planning those costumes, and most importantly—reach out to us at New Orleans Guest House to book your accommodations ASAP. We’ve got the perfect spot for you to rest your (probably sore from dancing) feet, recharge for more fun, and get to all the best events with ease. The only thing scarier than Halloween in New Orleans? Missing out on the most fabulous LGBT Halloween weekend of the year!
